Causes and solutions to the problem of heavy direction
① Mechanical fault analysis and troubleshooting of heavy steering:
First, if the front axle is supported and the steering wheel is turned, the steering is relatively light, which means that the steering fault is the front axle and the wheel or other parts. The reason is that after the front axle is supported, there is no resistance from the wheel and the road surface during the steering wheel rotation. In this case, it is necessary to strictly check the front wheel air pressure, and at the same time check whether the front axle is deformed, the spring performance of the front steel plate, and the deformation of the frame. These are all things that need to be checked. If necessary, the front axle needs to be disassembled and the kingpin inclination angle and wheel camber angle need to be checked accordingly. If the steering is heavy during the front axle support, it proves that there is a fault inside the steering gear. The more common faults are that the upper and lower bearings of the worm are adjusted too tightly or the bearings are damaged. In addition, it may be caused by the steering gear meshing clearance being too small.
② Booster pump failure: When the pump pressure of the booster pump does not meet the standard through experiments, it is obvious that the heavy direction is related to this. First, check the meshing surface of the flow control valve and the valve seat, and whether the safety valve steel ball is not tightly closed. Secondly, check whether the spring of the safety valve is invalid. This can be checked by adding a gasket behind the spring. If the maximum pump pressure increases significantly after adding a gasket behind the spring, it means that the spring is invalid. If there are no problems with these two parts, the booster pump should be disassembled to observe whether the cavity wall of the vane pump is worn and strained. Because the cavity wall is strained, the high and low pressures will be connected, resulting in the failure to build up pressure. The general reason for the strain is dirty oil. If the direction is suddenly heavy, check whether it is caused by the broken pump shaft.
③ Steering gear failure: If the steering gear power oil pressure is low, it means that the steering gear is the cause of the heavy steering. Generally speaking, most of the steering gear failures are caused by the piston, cylinder strain, or damage to the sealing ring on the piston, which causes the two chambers of the piston to communicate, so that the power pressure cannot be effectively established. In addition, the various sealing rings on the circumferential surface of the piston and the sealing ring on the steering screw are damaged, which will also cause high-pressure loads and reduce the power pressure. The culprit for the above reasons is the poor cleanliness and dirty oil inside the steering gear. Steering gear wading is also one of the reasons.
④ Lack of oil, there is air in the system. If the power system lacks oil, causing air in the system, not only the steering is heavy, but also there is noise when steering. At this time, exhaust according to the procedure of refueling and venting.
⑤ The return oil filter in the oil storage tank is blocked. The return oil filter in the oil storage tank has not been maintained or replaced for a long time, causing blockage, which is the poor circulation of the power oil, resulting in an increase in the return oil back pressure, which will also make the steering heavy.
Heavy on both sides
①The main mechanical reason lies in the steering knuckle. If the steering column and bushing are not maintained for a long time, they will be seriously lacking in oil, worn or even burned, which will cause the steering to be heavy. Therefore, during maintenance, the cavity of the steering column must be filled with grease, and each time the oil is filled, the front axle must be supported by a jack, and the grease must be poured onto the column until the grease is squeezed out of the lower two supporting surfaces. At this time, it means that the grease is filled between the column and the bushing.
②If the plane thrust bearing of the steering column is severely worn or damaged, it will also cause the steering to be heavy.
③Related connecting parts (cross-shaped, inner and outer ball heads of the tie rod, Yuanbao beam) are loose, deformed, and rusted.
④Failure of power assistance in the form of pressure relief, solenoid valve not powered, torque sensor failure, etc.
Heavy in one direction
① Mechanical failure: You can check by observing the appearance of the steering column and steering knuckle and moving the front wheel to feel the resistance of the front wheel swinging left and right. If there is no problem with the steering mechanical part after checking, then the failure is caused by the power steering part.
② Power steering failure: It is generally caused by the leakage of the seal responsible for sealing the high-pressure chamber on one side. Such as the valve sleeve seal ring, the oil channel seal ring on the piston circumference, etc.
Fast steering is heavy
① If you steer slowly when turning, the steering is still light. If you steer quickly when making a sharp turn, the steering will immediately become heavy. This means that when turning quickly, the effective displacement of the power-assisted pump is insufficient, and the supplement of the power-assisted oil to the high-pressure chamber of the oil cylinder cannot keep up with the movement of the piston, and the power-assisted oil pressure cannot be established, thus reflecting the failure of heavy steering. This type of failure is mainly in the power-assisted pump. If the power-assisted pump flow control valve leaks, the spring fails, and the pump blades and the chamber surface are severely worn, this phenomenon will occur.
② The oil pipe has been replaced by the user, and it may be installed incorrectly, or the diameter is too small or blocked, or the oil pipe is twisted or bent too much, causing poor oil flow or insufficient flow. The oil pipe that meets the requirements must be replaced.
The steering wheel is heavy
①The specifications or air pressure of the front wheels on both sides are inconsistent
②The caster angle or camber angle of the front wheels on both sides are not equal
③The clearance of the front wheel hub bearings on both sides is inconsistent
④The camber or elasticity of the leaf springs on both sides is inconsistent
